Could someone tell me if you can do the "C++ Builder 2006 - Enterprise
Upgrade" if the last thing you have is C++Builder 6 Professional.
Is that upgrade also valid if you have purchased Visual Studio 2003, as a
competitive upgrade?
They don't seem to know at Borland Canada.
Thanks,
Steve

Yes.

No, Borland does not have a competitive upgrade (which I complained about to
many VP's at the TeamB picnic a couple of weeks ago).

Thanks.
Another quick one. Is the 1Yr Maintenance and Support worth it? I haven't
seen much maintenance and support done in the last few years. Do you think
it will be any different from now on?

Looking at the roadmap (albeit the Delphi roadmap, but C++ will get enhancements
along with the Delphi side with each of the releases) there are 3 releases
planed in the next couple of year, Highlander, Avalon and Win64. I'd say yes.
In any case SA is not something you should look at as getting just the next
release cheaper than upgrading, it is a long term commitment. As long as
Borland has a release every 18 months your 3 year outlay to stay current is
always cheaper with SA. Also you have the 3 support incidents you can also use.

Thanks, all.
It is too bad that I have such doubt about Borland. I have used their
products since Turbo Basic (anyone remember that) and Turbo C 1.0 when they
only cost $99 and you knew it was the absolute best deal in town. Now, at
well over $1000, do you really know what you're getting, or have any
confidence in what is going to happen next?
