Is Borland getting the upgrade bug?
It seams like a new version every 6 months .
I'm just now getting the gist of Delphi 6 and its patches and terrible
helpfile. So now you want more money for Delphi 8.
I love Delphi but I think you are starting to hurt some programmers
especialy like me. I can't afford the price of the pro version every few
months and the personal is no good except for learning Delphi. You have the
price so high that only corporations can afford it.
I've been using Delphi.since the Turbo Vision era and the first versions
were afforable for the common programmer.

Oh come on, it has been more than a year since D7 has been released, and a
new version a year has been about the cycle for many years now.
If you do not plan do get into .NET programming you do not need Delphi 8, as
it stands now it only produces .NET executables.

Seems like I bought Delphi 1 in 1989 I'm not sure. I know I bought Paradox
back then.
Well Peter since your my favorite TeamB guy, I'll climb down from my
high horse, but maybe the guys from Borland will get the point!

FWIW I just read that part of the reason for Honda's enduring success was
that traditionally not a financer but an engineer is at the helm there...
Let's see...Borland mgmt has marketeers, financers, lawyers. Not a single
engineer. Sigh.

We have even worse names for them. But I decided to stay polite - I'm
honing my karma. :)

Amazing that that is nearly 6 years before D1 was sold to anyone else (IIRC
D1 was released 2/14/95). Delphi has always been on a 14-15 month cycle. The
only real exception was D6 which went out nearly 2 years because of Kylix. D7
to D8 was 15 months. D6 to D7 was 14 months.
