Has anyone else been seeing these memory access violation errors when they
exit Delphi 7 Professional? Has anyone been able to correct this problem?

I'm running in MS Windows XP Professional.

Thanks,

I am using WinXP, D7 pro. I did not get any AV when I am using Delphi.
It very stable. The only thing that caused AV so far is the Component
Bar, but it is rare.

What 3rd party components do you have?

Wien.

Often, such problems are caused by 3rd party components or experts.

Currently I haven't integrated any 3rd party components into Delphi 7, and
am not aware of any 3rd party components or experts that might cause this.
Delphi 7 Pro was the last software I installed.

Hmmm... in that case, it might be a bad install, or something else is
interfering. Did you restart, after the install?

Yes, I restarted after the install. It didn't prompt me to register and so I
didn't do that until today. And initially it didn't generate the error. The
error just started up today.

My Delphi 6 Pro also started generating this error the other day and I
thought maybe it was an MS Windows XP related problem, and figured
installing Delphi 7 Pro in place of D6 would be more in tune with XP and
thus correct the problem. But no such luck.

Then I don't know.

I guess the best place to ask is in borland.public.delphi.ide. Followup
set (so your reply will go there).

I'm running in MS Windows XP Professional.

Sometimes I get them too.. I am using W2KPro, it doesn't happen always, only
after prolonged usage, and - I suspect - lots of ADO access. I noticed that
the delphi32.exe process doesn't terminate properly, I need to kill it from
task manager.

The DreamCompany's Dream Memo will cause an AV on exiting Delphi 7. There are
several third party components that will cause this. I've never seen a Delphi 7
only install have problems on exiting.

I'm running the same configuration and I've seen this occur myself. I
haven't had the time to try and track down the cause. For me it occurs
erratically- only every once in a while. It also appears to occur when
I've been doing some kind of intensive debugging sessions. It may have
something to do with resetting the app instead of terminating it... not
sure.

I can't be sure that this problem is not caused by third party
components because I use a few. I'd love to get to the bottom of it
though. The reason I think it is the Delphi 7 IDE itself that is a
problem, is that I never had the problems with Delphi 6 - and I was
using exactly the same list of components. Although..... I did add the
TurboPower open-source components since Delphi 6. Maybe some TurboPower
components have a problem with Delphi 7?

Cheers,
Kevin.

I found that if I cleared out the program I was working on and worked on
some other application that the AV errors went away.

And so I decided to rebuild the program by first creating a new MDI base
using the Delphi 7 application wizard, and then attaching the various
already created child forms to this. I've got a hunch that what happened was
that I included the OKBtn dialog (standard dialog with horizontal buttons)
from the Delphi new items dialog and that there was something weird going on
with it. I noticed that this dialog was being saved back into the Delphi
project directory from where it originated, and maybe that got things
confused. I left this OkBtn dialog out and created my own.

Thanks.

You can try EurekaLog (www.eurekalog.com).

EurekaLog is an add-in tool that gives to your application (GUI,
Console, Web, etc.) the ability to catch every exception (even those
raised by memory leaks) and every infinite-loops/deadlock bugs,
generating a detailed log of call stack (with unit, class, method and
line #), showing and sending it back to you via email.
