Strange problem:

Using Delphi 5 and the PromptDataSource, on my XP Notebook (SP2)
without a network connected, I do not see the local SQL Server
2000 DB. With Enterprise Manager it is viable and accesible. If
I attach the network, the network DB is visible, but the local is
not.

Some months ago I had the same problem, and to solve it I
uninstalled one of the MS security patches. The bad news is that
I forgot to log the change (which patch I uninstalled). I recall
that someone responded that a security patch interferred with
access to the local DB.

If I create a connection string manually for the local DB and try
to use it, it is rejected.

Does any of this "ring a bell" for someone out there?
