Dear Friends,
As a complete beginner, I haven't figured out how to get Delphi to use
Firbird yet.
I'm programming in D2005 and would like to use the Interbase VCL components
WITH FIREBIRD.
How do I tell Delphi to stop using Interbase and use FB 2.0 instead?
thank you,
-D. Bowen

You can use the firebird gds32.dll proxy dll for this and if possibly in the IB library you can point it too
fbclient.dll.
As for the firebird newsgroups, they can be found here:

take in consideration that while nowadays Firebird and Interbase are
still very similar, in future versions compatibility issues could
appear as both move in different directions.

I would try to use either ODBC or some native components instead of IBX.

I'm new in the field of programming, and would like to know a step-by-step procedure on how to connect C++ with SQL Server and how can they communicate with each other.

Thank You.

The Firebird install can install a gds32.dll that internally redirect all calls to fbclient.dll.
You could also rename the fbclient.dll to gds32.dll too, but i would recommand using a componentset that supports
Firebird.
