Maybe it is not a right place to ask but anyway. Is there any virtualization
SW that can share many servers/blades as single or multiprocessor server? Is
there any other option except multiprocessor machine?

Problem is as follows. There are 5 developers using mainly using SQL server
and Delphi IDE (and sometimes also VS 2003/2005). All are conected via LAN
to server. Now, every developer has its own machine, which is very laud and
warms up environment. Clients are using resolution of 1600x1200 or 1920 x
1200. Also audio (Skype) and USB (units on client side) capabilities are
needed.
We were thinking of powerfull server with Win 2003 and terminal services or
blade center with virtualization SW and WinXP. On client side, we planned to
use small Linux machine (Fanless AMD Geode/VIA or similar) with RDP client.

Did someone implemented a solution like suggested? Any other suggestions?

Buy each developer a good portable. Quieter and it has out-of-hours
advantages.

Migrate your developpers to Athlon-X2?

With CnQ, my 3800+ runs fanless with an Arctic Cooling Freezer 64

Yes, it's big, but it's not heavy. The fan is rather quiet in the first
place, and if your case has decent airflow, you can even unplug it for
complete silence (without fan, I don't get above 45°C under load, and it
usually stays at around 35°C).

Add in a silent PSU like Fortron's, a motherboard with fanless chipset
(there are many), and if you have some hot-running videocard or
harddrive, a low-speed 12cm case fan (though since you were considering
RDP, any old integrated nVidia/ATI graphics should do, and these do not
require active cooling).

This results in a rather laggy interface IME, for Terminal Services to
feel like a local PC, you not only need a fast network and a fast
services, but also an above-minimal-requirements client.

Yes.
It is known as a single system image cluster.

Linux:
Open Single System Image
http://openssi.org/cgi-bin/view?page=openssi.html

It is available for Debian and for Knoppix

Windows:
Windows Cluster Server 2003 is the evolution of Wolfpack.
About it:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/ccs/default.mspx
You can get it here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/ccs/beta.mspx

The linux solution is however, more stable and more secure and runs on
32 bit hardware, unlike Windows Cluster Server.
