Hello.
Best options I can think of are:
1) Turbo Power Async Pro
2) MS SAPI4
3) MS SAPI5
4) Dragon Naturally Speaking
I am aware that TP Async Pro support is based on SAPI, however I've no
clue about the version.
Which would you pick for deployment?
What I'm trying to do is to make the computer read some text I'll
feed it with.
Cheers and TIA,
Andrew

Apro is SAPI 4. nrComm supports SAPI 5. I've not used the SAPI
support of nrComm, so, I don't really know how good it is. But, the
product is only like $40 USD or so, so you can't hardly loose:

Isn't AsyncPro open source now?

I have used SAPI (MS' speech-to-text engine), used by the MS Agents (Peedy
the Parrot, etc.). Don't recall what version--whatever was extant a couple
of years ago.
That's what I use in my "talking books" which read my novels, such as
"Warble Reader":

I guess you read too quickly. I was comparing Apro to nrComm, where
nrComm supports SAPI 5 and costs like $40 USD. Apro only supports
SAPI 4. I don't believe any significant changes have been made to it
since it became open source, I think it is still on SAPI 4.

Apro can also do voice recognition besides text to speech. Can nrComm do
Voice recognition ?

This is a good choice as it should be pre-installed on all XP machines.
There's an activex that you can import without too much fuss.
