Using CVS to manage Delphi source code
======================================
The discussion will be in 2 parts,

Part 1 is the overview of CVS and version control and what it can do for
you, followed by a walk through of importing a Delphi project into CVS
and using CVS with tortoise.

Part 2 is the lab for people who are interested. I will install CVSNT
and tortoise from scratch, import a project, and check it out on a
different machine. I will have an Ethernet hub, and hopefully a
functional WiFi access point for people who what to try installing it
and running it from their own laptop.

We will be using the GUI front end TortoiseCVS

look at the FAQ.

http://www.tortoisecvs.org/faq.shtml

Installing the CVS server, get it from:

http://www.cvsnt.org

I will be using CVSNT 2.0.51 for the demo

tools:

Exam Diff (recommended by TortoiseCVSNT's faq.

http://www.prestosoft.com/ps.asp?page=edp_examdiff

Reading on CVS:

A book that explains using CVS

http://cvsbook.red-bean.com/

and for those of you who like reading manuals:

https://www.cvshome.org/docs/manual/

This one covers everything, and also covers some advanced concepts
(tagging, branching, merging ) very well.

As usual, we will have an informal get together at the Shops
Eatery downtown DC (basement of the National Theater building)

There is air conditioning in the building, but it gets turned
off about 6:00, so the beginning of the meeting will be
comfortable. The end of the meeting will probably be a little
sticky.
