(I posted this question a week ago. No replies. And now the message is
deleted ???)
We are developing an ActiveX-application with MIDAS, and want to use Crystal
reports.
Can I use Crystal's Delphi components to show and print reports that are
stored on the server and that connects to Oracle without drivers on the
clients. ?
Currently our application opens an asp-page which integrates the CR Active X
Viewer -
Is there any better way to do this ?
I am used to Crystal and we're using Crystal 9 AE - but I have never used
the Crystal VCL's.
The ActiveX-application is written in D7

FWIW, I saw the original post, but have no guidance to offer you. You're
outside of my experience.

I'm just lurking these days and did see the original post too. It's still
there. Try resetting the newsgroup settings in Outlook Express.

You could use the TCrpeDS component to connect to the Midas dataset on the
client. The Oracle interaction is taking place on the server, so you won't
need oracle drivers on the client. You will need the crystal runtime on the
client for the View/Print possibility of the Crystal VCL.
However, I wouldn't recommend changing to the VCL. Crystal is having
troubles to support it and it is based on the Crpe32.dll which is not
updated any more for new features in Crystal. If your application is working
right now I would recommend to stick with the ActiveX solution. But please
mind that this is just my personal opinion and I don't know any real world
experience with Midas.
Regards,
Gert
