Can you compile and run code with such a beast? Does it moderately
work, or can you just look at some of the features that will be
forthcoming?

From what we've seen in the demos, you can compile and run code. You
may run into some issues with very specific C++ constructs, but for
general use, it's ok.

It's essentially a wide open public beta AFAICT...

From what I've heard from some of the BorCon attendees (who received a
preview version), it slices, it dices, it makes mounds and mounds of
Julienne fries. It also edits, compiles, links and debugs better than
BCB 6. And Borland's working to make it even better. I like that!

Just to clarify: could it be possible to create and release to the public
compiled programs using this preview? I know that one month is not that
much, but I'm sure someones will ask it, and I don't see that clearly
specified anywhere.

This of course in the case that the preview is good to do this, but that's a
technical matter. The question here is more "legal" or about the "license".
