A moment of idle speculation, and the huge threads on what we could
do to promote the Delphi ecosystem, prompts this question:

What is ASP.NET Really?

I have, in my hand, well, it was in my hand before I started
typing, now it's just to the left of the keyboard, but I digress...
I just got a box full of Delphi Informants, specifically volume
ten, number seven, for July 2004. Not only does it purport to
answer the question posed above, but it also has three database
articles and one on automating Excel (with a somewhat misleading
title, IMHO).

In any case, kudos to Nick for the article, I promise I'll read it
(one of these days). And, should anyone in the
Fresno/Clovis/Central California area be interested in dropping by,
I've actually got multiple copies to hand out. That way you can
decide for yourself if it's worthwhile subscribing.

Finally - the threads about Delphi book publishing, Borland Press,
and all that - if you're interested in this sort of thing, the
article on the last page specifically takes on the Delphi
publishing arena, and asks for feedback. Buy a copy, borrow one,
or get an evaluation to read more.

If your in Utah, I have several copies of the magazine as well.
I will be giving them out at our users group meeting tomorrow night.

And the article is on ASP.NET custom controls.

What are you going to do with a mountain of stale or moldy bread
slices? I suppose it would make good insulation for the walls, if
it weren't for the rats and insects... <g>

I'd start a kvass producing business. :-)

Kvass is a very low alcohol content fermented drink made
out of bread. Popular in some eastern European countries,
but not well known otherwise.
