In this time of uncertainty, I can not forget what really matters.

I've never had a customer complain that they don't like the language my
program is written in. I have had them complain that my software is
lacking a feature that they've been requesting for years that would make
their jobs more productive.

I've never had a customer comment that they don't like the IDE I use. I
have had them complain that my documentation is not complete, is missing
index items, missing screen shots, and has grammar errors.

I've never had a customer say that they don't like that I'm not using
web services and all the other bleeding edge technologies that are out
there. I have had them complain about those scattered access violations
that I've never taken the time to track down because I "couldn't
reproduce them".

I've never had a customer say that they wish our software would run on
linux instead of Windows. I have had them say that our user interface
isn't as intuitive and visually appealing as it could be becasue I don't
spend the time to make it better.

I'm not attempting to diminish the concerns that are out there. I'm
trying to see the forest through the trees and stay focused on why I'm
doing what I'm doing.

And hey, if I can make some wry comments on the sorry state of
technology in the process, all the better.

"You can write it in any language you wish, as long as you choose

Good for you. Sometimes my customers request source code. At the same
time they ask about the language I use. If I were using Haskell or
Common Lisp, they would ignore me.

Your message is about "What really matters for C.R. Hinners".
