|
|
I just talked with Borland Customer service concerning a possible return,
and found out that borland now only offers a 30 day return policy, not the
60 day like they used to have on releases of old. Of course im 35 days
past, so outta luck. Just curious how long its been this way? seems
borlands going backwards in the customer service and quality areas... just
an observation.

Evidently it can't be opened either.

with it EXTENSIVELY before you order your updates, otherwise your screwed.

I've noticed that, in general, businesses seem to like to remove features
quietly, but make a big noise about adding them. I am not surprised in the
least to see that Borland is the same way. After all, the maker of our
favorite tool is a corporation, not a proprietorship or physical person.

This has got to be the only industry in which actually using the product
makes it impossible to exercise the warranty. Yet, programmers accept it.

I ordered Kylix 1 at the super high release price and opened it, found
out it sucked and was not worth that price, and they refunded me fully.
I would just do a little bitching, they should refund you even if you
opened it. It does not matter what it says on the web page. If you
make a big enough stink they will take it back.

If you paid for it via credit card and you're willing to complain to
your credit card company, you could probably get a chargeback going (or
just threaten one to Borland's sales department) and get it all worked
out. I could see if you'd waited 3 months to return it, but 35 days
(especially considering the first update just came out) doesn't seem so
bad.

Probably true. And sad that policies are put in place to only penalize the
meek. Anyway, the life lesson is, always bitch and complain when things
cannot get any worse. At the best, you'll get more than what you wanted and
at the worst, you'll feel better having vented your frustration.

With the added benefit that if the problem is really due to the complainer's
fault or incompetance, that will be made abundantly (if annoyingly) clear to
all as well...

It appears the return policy was quietly changed for D8 or D2005.

I thought it was much earlier -- like D6 or D7.

I'm pretty sure D6 had the 90/60 day return policy. The first mention of
it in google is in the kylix groups.

Kylix shipped before D6. D6 was the first Delphi to have the shortened return
date policy.
