What's the difference between these 3 news groups?

borland.public.delphi.language.delphi.win32
borland.public.delphi.nativeapi32
borland.public.delphi.rtl.win32

I see Win32 API related discussion in all three.

This is for discussing the Delphi language when used on the Win32
platform (as opposed to the .NET platform, Linux platform...).

Quote:
borland.public.delphi.nativeapi

This is for questions regarding the Windows API.

Quote:
borland.public.delphi.rtl.win32

This is for questions regarding the Delphi RTL (e.g., Math functions,
TThread class, etc.) when used on the Win32 platform.

WinAPI questions really belong in nativeapi and are off-topic
elsewhere. But we're fairly lenient about this as it doesn't tend to
be disruptive to the groups.

Am I the only person who thinks that the newsgroups admin should smoke something milder?

Are you suggesting that Craig's response was a little harsh? If so, I
have to say that I cannot see it myself. He responded to each group in
a precise way, and, indeed, his final comment on being lenient about
the placement of API related questions, came across as level-headed and
good natured (as is always the case with Craig), IMHO.

Sure, TeamB sometimes respond in a more robust manner, but almost
always it is an appropriate response to what are sometimes unreasonable
and provocative questions and comments.

There is a whole lot of difference between 1: Delphi as a language as it
presently appears on the Win32 platform, 2: the Windows API which is based
largely on C libraries, and 3: the RTL which is a Borland supplied library
of convenience functions/classes.

All three topics are so large that it was deemed necessary to provide eqch
with its own group to help people spot their own questions easier.

Please read Craig's message again, it explains the original intent of the
newsgroups in question, and he also explains that many people abuse the
groups, but we do not enforce the division strictly.

The sanity of the NG admin is totally unquestionable.

No, you're not.

Really - when certain percentange (even Floor()-ed) of the messages is
about where to post a certain message something's wrong.

IMHO.

I didn't see anything in his reply that indicated smoking anything, whether
mild or harsh. If you think it was rude or harsh, you should check out the
comp.lang.c newsgroup.

My post seems to have been interpreted as criticism of Craig. I meant no such thing, and
apologies to Craig for any misunderstanding. I was complaining about the excessively
long-winded and hair-splitting newsgroup hierarchy.

I /did/ wonder, hence my, hopefully, non-confrontational reply!

Thanks for the heads-up.
