|
|
Hello there,
We are wanting to use Interbase in our database development (because Defined
webhost support it) and was wondering if anyone could give us any advice on
which book would be best. We have found the selection of books at
http://www.ibphoenix.com/main.nfs?a=ibphoenix&page=ibp_publications
but cant decide which would be better for us. We are developing using Delphi
7.
Regards
Anthoni

As an addition. Just noticed that all the books are in non-english. However
we are still wanting to find a book (in English) and have searched Amazon
but it has turned up nothing. Any one know of anywhere else Interbase books
are for sale and which are the best ones?
Regards, again,
Anthoni

There are no InterBase books in English other than the InterBase
manuals.

I think the best English book is the courseware. You can only get it by
having the courseware delivered to you. I'll be delivering it as a
preconference tutorial at Borcon. :-)

I know that Firebird and Interbase have less in comon than they used to,
but check out the soon-to-appear book by Helen Borrie:
http://www.ibphoenix.com/main.nfs?a=ibphoenix&s=1090592525:10854&page=ibp_firebird_book
The Firebird Book: a Reference for Database Developers
By Helen Borrie
Some of you [...] may be aware that for some time now Helen has been
writing the first book about Firebird (or InterBase for that matter) to
be published in the english language. ...

This, unfortunately, demonstrates the relative (un) importance
of Interbase on the market. I can recommend an excellent
book in German though (Interbase Datenbankentwicklung mit Delphi,
by Andreas Kosch, ISBN 3-935042-09-4).

Search for 'Firebird'.
We now have one book in English. If you buy it, post back a review for the
rest of the newsgroup.
