There was an article in the October 2002 Delphi Informant on choosing
a database. If you can find that it might help. The reason there are
so many databases is that they are good at different things.
Since you did not mention cost, complexity or size as considerations
perhaps you should look at Oracle. If you want a meaningful
suggestion we need a lot more information about your application,
number of users, amount of data, what operations you will be
performing on the data and in what proportion, cost constraints, will
there be a full time DBA available and anything else you can think of.

This all depends on what you are trying to do. Oracle is a bit of overkill
for a shareware app. And I wouldn't recommend having 1000 users connected to
an Access DB. Databases I use and would recommend are DBISAM, Interbase,
Firebird and SQL-Server. Databases I wouldn't recommend Paradox, DBase,
Access.

I suggest you to choose a client/server database.
Check for dbisam (www.elevatesoftware.com) or NexusDb (www.nexusdb.com)
I use NexusDb and i don't have problems. The speed is very good and data
corruption is very very rare. Windows 95 is not supported

Of course not. It is copyrighted material. Besides, why would anyone
buy the magazine if they can find the same information on the Web for
nothing? :)
