|
|
I can hear you all going "Huh, what does he want to do that for?"
BDS-2009 *Pro* only has XML persistence is the primary reason. The
other is that I can have all the persistence I want [many thanks to DTG
for this] with Win32 and Bold.
I've got two projects I want to do. In one xml will be fine for
persistence - yea, I know, I know "XML persistence should not be used
in released software, it is for testing only" [sorry Peter ... what
choice do I have?]. Anyway, I've decided to do this one in D.Net and
learn as I go - did I mention I'll be learning .Net as well ;-)
The second project is an old VB utility where the users are fed up with
dealing with huge [up to 5 min] unload times when exiting now that it's
running on XP - this one _has_ to use an Access dB. I want to stay with
MDA so I figured I'd learn Bold as well. No, I'm /not/ going back to VB
to fix it :)
From some preliminary runs at both Bold and ECO, ECO 'looks' to be the
easier path. If I can nail the basics, I'm figuring, Bold won't be the
grunt that I've heard it is supposed to be.
Comments appreciated.

Learning one will certainly help to understand the other, and I'd expect ECO
to be the easier of the two to learn.

You could upgrade to a higher level product :-)

Thanks, I'm sure hoping so. |

And that's about as likely as DTG supplying MDA all the way down to |
TurboE which, if you really think about it, is probably not all that
bad of an idea ;-)
Thanks for the response.
