Does the delphi compiler look to see which windows o/s it is compiling
under? I ask this because I have an application which was compiled in
win2000 and an install built with installshield in win2000 set to install
for all windows platforms.. When I installed this app. on a computer running
xp, my app. would not work (I got some bizarre errors). I then installed
Delphi 7 on to the XP computer and re-compiled my code (with no changes
what-so-ever) and it works fine! I do not understand the process involved,
I would be logical if I had to make code changes. This implies that to
install an application on a new o/s it must be first complied on it.

Any feed back would be greatly appreciated.

No.

Sounds more like an install problem.
We could help more if you told us about the errors.

I've got the same problem.

I've got a program with delphi 7, and it works. But If I install the program
in win2000 it doesn't work. Something like general protection fault, but If
I install delphi 7 in the win2000 and recompiler it works. The same with Xp.
So, I don't know the programs that are developed for win9x,2000,xp? Why they
execute ok, without recompilating?

Thanks.

I have just built an install with the latest installshield and D7 in win xp
pro. I am about to test the install on a 'fresh' xp computer, a win2000 and
win98, I will post the results.
