Since you (Borland IDE employee's) are no longer going to be a part of
Borland, will you now give an "estimate" of when the next C++ service pack
will be available and what will be in it?

It sure would go a long way in helping to curb some of the uncertainty about
the future of Borlands/DevCo's software packages.

This waiting is killing us...

Thanks

I'd "estimate" that BDS 2006 Update 2 will be available in March. We will
update Quality Central with a list of fixed bugs when the update is
available.

We're also working on bdsproj2mak and a sizeable list of C++ items for
Highlander.

Thanks for the update, I (we) really do appreciate it.

I just hope that I don't have to spend more money to get Highlander because
the necessary bugs/enhancements were not completed in BDS2006 Sad
That would greatly hurt "Borland's" efforts.

Keep the bug fixes coming!!

Good news. Only 7 days to go until March <vbg>

Does that mean bdsproj2mak is only going to be in Highlander? Many folk here
were expecting it in an update??

Also, I wonder if Devco will look at introducing a subscription-only
charging model for BDS, similar to MSDN? It could have a lot of advantages
all round.

BTW, I'm delighted that C++ is getting the attention it deserves and
requires.

Yes, but there are 31 days in March as well!

I believe those are 2 separate pieces of work, bdsproj2mak and
Highlander, although obviously it would be better for Tim or someone
else from Borland to give the definitive reply.

Personally I would be very surprised to wait till Highlander is release
before seeing this utility!

That, or Highlander is due much earlier than I expect!!

How would this differ from Software Assurance?

But only 28 in Feb. (this year, anyway)

Speaking of which, I was amused that my 2008 FogBugz support contract will
cost $0.05 more than either 2007 or 2009. Reason? Their support costs $0.05
per user per day ;)

Correct. They are separate. bdsproj2mak will be available after Update 2 and
long before Highlander.
