I am working on an application that reconstructs part of a 3D model
from given images. I would like to put a texture on the model like it
is done in
http://www.robots.ox.ac.uk/~vgg/projects/SingleView/example_merton.html
(not necessarily from one image). Do I have to split the image into
parts and put each and every one on a 3D model?

Take a look at glscene in www.glscene.org.

Usually you apply textures in each object, not in the entire scene!
