Good Folk of the Delphi Community,
I have several thousand documents stored in XIF format, which is (was ?) a
proprietary Xerox format based on improved JPEG. The format is XIF 2 (which,
unlike the original XIF) is not recognised by the Imaging program that used
to ship with Windows 98.
While I can convert these to more user friendly TIFF (amongst others), the
curious child within wonders if anybody has insight into the internal
structure of these things (eg is there an identifiable JPEG bit ?). There is
nothing I can find on the web, unless you know better ....

I've seen many file formats, but never XIF. Check the file for any
occurrance of JPEG markers $FFFX (where X is 0..E). If these are present
it's probably a kind of embedded jpeg.
Kind regards, Nils
